About…

These tips are distilled from research that I’ve come across through various books, articles, vids, podcasts etc, and refined through my studies at UTAS.  I’ve tried to boil down the most impactful actions you can take to reduce climate change to be as easy as possible to do in your daily life.  As well as many benefits for the planet, I hope that there are lots benefits for your daily life too.

Hey!  I’m Jason Moore.  Usually I keep a low profile on the internet, though for the sake of transparency, this is me!

I’ve always been passionate about our environment, though my background is in music.  While I’ve done some study through UTAS’ Sustainable Living course, I’m still an absolute novice and learning new things all the time.  Therefore, any pearls of wisdom you find here you can credit to the incredible scientists, psychologists, economists, nutritionists and professionals I’ve come across…  any errors you can attribute to me!

While much of the research and ideas I’m inspired by are from right across the globe, I’m based in Australia on Wurundjeri Country in Melbourne, therefore, this research is most reflective of an Australian situation.  I’m sure there are equivalent actions available right across the planet and I’d love to hear of them.

It’s also worth noting that I am very far from perfect, and while I endeavour to do the best thing for the planet, we all have slip ups from time to time.  The ideas here are intended to be shared in the spirit of improving our common resource - Planet A - for all, rather than talking down to anyone.  I try to have a ‘no one is above you, no one is below you, everyone is beside you’ kind of approach, as Molly Meldrum might say.

It’s also worth noting that once you’ve completed these challenges, the challenge keeps going!  While some of the challenges are intended to be set and forget, others are process or systems based.  While planet earth is in a real pickle at the moment, we’ve been here many times before - from the days of Robin Hood and The Magna Carta, right through to the hole in the ozone layer (which is slowly recovering).  We just haven’t been in a pickle of this scale before.  Solving the problem doesn’t necessarily prevent it from happening again.  By changing some of our daily processes and attitudes, maybe we can prevent future crises from becoming so wide spread.

Importantly, I have no affiliations or endorsements, and don’t get any kick backs from anyone or any business/organisation I’ve mentioned here - it’s all COMPLETELY INDEPENDENT and I intend to keep it that way!  I have no financial gain from this endeavour… in fact I spend time and money on the upkeep of the website!

Fair to say that I will always be a student and always learning, so if you think there’s any information that should be updated (we are all learning new things all the time!), or just have something to share, please get in touch…

Especially big thanks to UTAS, Caitlin O’Neill and Eliza Herbert for the help, inspiration and guidance in compiling this ‘how to’ resource.

Acknowledgement of Country

In the spirit of reconciliation, we acknowledge the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation, the traditional custodians of the lands and waters on which we primarily live today.  We pay our respects to their Elders past, share our love and encouragement with Elders present and emerging, and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People.
